A little pre-event drizzle might have kept some away from what turned out to be a fantastic night for time trialling - warm, low air pressure and a light breeze. It has been almost 12 years since we last had a WTT event with as high an average of the average speeds, and you may see all such "fast" days by clicking here. Eight of twelve women bettered their previous 2008 WTT 15km bests tonight, and the most improved of these, Erika Revesz, wanted to break out the champagne to celebrate her 22:58. Nancy Manning was every bit as pleased with her 23:46, her first time below 24 minutes. Junior rider Lindsay Anderson, did an excellent 23:48 in her first WTT 15km (done shortly after a hard cycling workout) , and can certainly be counted upon to improve. Note that Triathlon Canada gave Lindsay the Duathlon Junior Female Athlete of the year award in 2007. Probably the most consistent competitor over the past 19 years is Veteran D rider Jean Cooper (look at the small standard deviation near the bottom of the results page), and she was happy to break 30 minutes for the first time this season. In fact, if is interesting to see how much lower her standard deviation is than that for the others who have ridden at least 100 WTT 15km events thus far.
